You can mail me one, you know.
Ugh, Friday sucks when you know you'll be at work late late late, basically just waiting around so you can sit in a meeting and have no input cuz you're just a "junior" employee. I hope y'all are having better days than I. Viva la weekend!
Oooh, it's Hot Topic

Your source for all things mallternative since 1995. I have always made merciless fun of this store, but I found myself shopping there, to my horror, when I was in college. I went to school in the suburbs and there's not many places to buy punk rock belts on a moment's notice. I also love how the website features real kids wearing clothes, not models, and it's cool that it's the one place in the mall you can work without taking out your piercings. But the design is just hideous. See, I'm still punk.
Groupie Central

This website was started by "dedicated followers of music who are young, female, and gorgeous" and it has more than you'll ever need to know about the groupie lifestyle. There are bios of famous groupies from Bobbie Brown (the Cherry Pie chick and now an informercial queen) to the awesome Bebe Buell and erotic thriller staple Shannon Tweed. There are gossip items cribbed from the National Enquirer. There's even an advice column. This site is 100% pure trash, and incredibly entertaining.
Modern bachelor pads!

[NYT- registration required] Oh please. This article is about a bunch of young men who are spending, like, half a mil on decorators so they can impress the ladies with their Rico Suave meets Swingers decorating scheme. And at the same time, these are a bunch of "boo-ya!" type playa guys who I would shoot on site if they approached me. Quote: ""If you let girls buy sheets and towels or pick out furniture, that's letting them get their tentacles into you," said Feldman, 43, a sports doctor." Oh, shut up.
Distorted Barbie

Really neat page about the iconography of Barbie. Some of this is fahncy-schmancy art theory, but a lot of it is just plain interesting. Makes good points about Barbie as a symbol for "woman" and includes some historical stuff- did you know that the German doll that Barbie was based on was marketed as a sex toy for men?? I also like how the author of this page keeps their identity androgynous, because then it's harder to jump to conclusions about what it all "means". Check out the link list for more Barbie Deconstruction.
Barbie & Ken movies!

No, not those kind of movies, you sicko. 6 girls aged 11-14 make little sketch movies with their Barbie dolls, take stills from them and put them up on the web, with dialogue. Some of these are extremely funny, perhaps unintentionally so, but the greatest part is the character sketches with voice samples. Check out the sad saga of Ken Kensington.
